U.S. Patent PP27,144
Sweet Orange Cultivar
Description: ‘B9-65’ was selected on the basis of high fruit yield and high soluble solids content in fruit, based on five years of data from a replicated trial planted in Winter Park, Florida. The replicated trial of 32 sweet orange clones included both juvenile and mature clones of standard ‘Valencia’, a commercial clone of ‘Rhode Red Valencia’, and numerous other seedling introductions and somaclonal variants. ‘B9-65’ ranked #1 in cumulative yield over five consecutive harvests, and was in the top five every season for high soluble solids content in the juice. ‘B9-65’ comes into production early and has the same maturation date as standard ‘Valencia’. It is an excellent choice for anyone planting processing ‘Valencia’.
