Description: ‘Arnie’ is a new normal oleic runner-type peanut cultivar. ‘Arnie’ has exceptional pod yield potential and high grades. In twenty‐three experiments, ‘Arnie’ was found to have approximately 12% higher yield than ‘Georgia‐06G’, the dominant normal oleic cultivar grown today, with equal or slightly higher grade of about 78% total sound mature kernels. Seed of ‘Arnie’ will be available in adequate supply, with the potential to grow up to 1,500 acres in seed increase in 2024. ‘Arnie’ was developed by Dr. Barry Tillman at the UF/IFAS North Florida Research and Education Center. The variety is named in memory and honor of Mr. Arnold Forrester, a strong supporter of peanut research and breeding efforts at UF/IFAS and in the southeastern U.S.
